I know the heading of this post may put some people off.... But it shouldn't, irrespective what the economy says.
Over the years, i have always been a cheerful and always giving individual. According to my parents, I could give away my last sweet (even if i cried afterwards) as a child. This same spirit has been imbibed in me all through out my growing up. Now am a volunteer with SLUM2SCHOOL AFRICA, where we basically get kids from the Slums (majorly Lagos) and give them quality education.
I have been a volunteer with this organisation for the past 2 years. What still drives me to giving is the fact that at the end of the day, I know with my help and donations from friends and family members, takes one less child off the street of the slums and is in the classroom.
Right now www.slumtoschool.org, is fundraising for kids to go back to school, We have so far in the past 3 years of our existence, have enrolled over 650 Kids into our Adopted Primary school in Makoko, Yaba, Lagos. And right now we are looking at raising the bar higher, to 1000 kids, at 30,000 per child for a duration of 1 year. This 30,000 includes the child school uniform, medical fees, books, bags, food, e.t.c.
